We believe that you, too, can have all the wealth
you desire. This belief is grounded in the evidence
that has come from two sources:
individuals and families, initially of little
means, who have become wealthy in our own lifetime
and “before our very eyes”
the demonstrable evidence of investment and
financial researches whose reports and books
are available to anyone who has the interest
to read, and be empowered by this evidence
Let’s listen to three such people:
Jeremy J Siegel, Professor of
Finance, Wharton School of Business, University
of Pennsylvania: “As the proliferation
of stock markets around the world attests, stocks
hold the key to enriching the lives of all peoples
everywhere” page 290, “Stocks For the
Long Run” Philip A Fisher, widely respected
and admired as one of the most influential investors
of all time: “Within the lifetime of most
investors and within the period in which their
parents could have acted for nearly all of them,
there were available scores of opportunities
to lay the groundwork for substantial fortunes
for oneself or one’s children” page
7, “Common Stocks and Uncommon Profits” Peter Lynch: World famous former
manager, America’s Fidelity multi-billion
dollar Magellan Fund “An amateur investor
can pick tomorrow’s big winners by paying
attention to new developments at the workplace,
the mall, the auto showroom, the restaurants
or anywhere a promising new enterprise makes
its debut’ page 16, “One Up On Wall
Street”
Rise above our handicaps
So, dear reader, it’s possible for you (and
the rest of us) to be rich. Trouble is, all of
us, Caribbean Peoples, are handicapped by the same
constraints. We are a consumer-driven people, maybe
because our Education System failed us in many
ways such as
‘leaving us” to depend on others
for our daily bread instead of imbuing us with
the responsibility to chart our own course in
life. The System has given us small morsels of
fish each day instead of teaching us how to fish
for a lifetime
forgetting to implant in us a culture of saving
so that we have something to invest
forgetting to teach us the difference between
gambling and investing so that too many of us
understand gambling but don’t understand
investing
But you, dear reader, like others, can rise above
these handicaps. All it takes is the willingness
to assume responsibility for your future intellectual
and financial independence. It is possible for
you to take this responsibility. We promise to
stand by you and assist you in this transformation.
